The AHA BLS Provider Course covers foundational material for saving lives from cardiac arrest.

Topics:

  • Adult, Child, and infant CPR
  • Two-rescuer scenarios and use of a bag-valve-mask
  • Foreign body airway obstruction maneuvers (conscious and unconscious)
  • Automated External defibrillation use
  • Special resuscitation situations
  • Other cardiopulmonary emergencies.

  • Medical or nursing students in training

The AHA Advanced Cardiac Life Support Provider Course is designed for healthcare professionals who either direct or participate in the management of cardiopulmonary arrest and other cardiovascular emergencies. You are required to have a current BLS card to attend this course.

Topics:

  • Basic Life Support skills, including effective chest compressions, use of a bag-valve-mask and use of an AED.
  • Recognition and early management of respiratory and cardiac arrest.
  • Recognition and early management of per-arrest conditions such as symptomatic bradycardia.
  • Airway Management
  • Related pharmacology
  • Management of acute coronary syndromes (ACS) and stroke
  • Effective communication as a member and leader of the resuscitation team
  • Effective resuscitation team dynamics

PRE-COURSE REQUIRMENT:

  • You are required to complete online an pre-course self-assessment and course work with a score of 70% or higher. You can access the pre-coursework here.

  • You must complete the pre-coursework before attending the course. Bring a copy of the score report and course completion to class. You will not be permitted to complete the class without a copy of this.

  • Management of respiratory emergencies
  • Rhythm disturbances and electrical therapy
  • Vascular access
  • Cardiac, respiratory, and shock case discussion and simulations
  • Effective communication as a member and leader of the resuscitation team
  • Effective resuscitation team dynamics

Intended Audience:

  • PAs
  • NPs
  • Nurses
  • Paramedics
